if he doesnt have a drivers license he should not try to fly. He will be taken of the flight. As for trains I think they also ask for ID. I am not sure about that though.

My understanding is that all modes of mass transportation: planes, trains and/or buses require identification to either purchase a ticket and/or go through security. I also know passports, no matter the country of origin, serve this purpose. And that domestic flights (flights within the U.S.) airline counters usually do not look for entry visa details. This is why you only usually see I.C.E. officers in the International Terminals where they have access to verify travel visas. I wouldn’t worry as long as you can speak clear English.

no, unless they have fake papers and have managed to get a state issued I.D. Not very likely.

He needs a picture ID produced by a government. A foreign passport would be OK, in principle, but they might also look for his visa. It’s very unlikely that they would, but I wouldn’t recommend gambling on that. A driver’s license is acceptable, though, and they wouldn’t check immigration status if he shows a driver’s license, if he has one.

he will need a government picture id to travel any way…
now a days in bus, in car, in train they are asking for id and show of prove of legal residency or citizen
last time i went to Las Vegas i went on the plane and all of a sudden a guy from border patrol asked me for my prove of citizenship =0S
mmmmm …….. i wouldnt risk it if he doesnt have a government id…. a real one because now they even scan them to see if they are valid ids

If your friend wasn’t illegal, and came to the US through the PROPPER and LEGAL channels, he wouldn’t have this problem huh?????????
