Yes, unless you plan on holding her on your lap.

With all of the airline changes, you may want to call their specific 800 numbers.
You used to be able to have a lap child for an up charge, but I am not sure that with fuel costs they allow it anymore.

Yes, it’s a legal thing that even on domestic flights from the day a child turns 24 months, they have to have their own seat which costs 80% of the price. You should be aware that if it asks you for child or infant, infant is only under 24 months.
The reason why the website will only be showing 2 seats is that if you look at the fine print it probably says that if you are booking a child seat you can’t book it online - sorry !

The FAA dictates that any child age 2 or older, must occupy a a seat…the child then CANNOT occupy your lap, and therefore, a ticket must be purchased. Child fares (if any) differ from airline to airline…you’ll have to do some checking with the different airlines. Advanced purchase, fully restricted tickets are usually cheaper anyway.

I believe that the FAA regulation is that YES, kids 2 years and older must occupy their own seat. It’s safer for the child….

Two is the maximum age for a lap child. You can hold her in your lap for free, or buy her a seat at full price. with $800.00 coach one-way tickets, I would hold her.
